We are proud to partner with EpicPromise grant recipients Friends of the CAIC (Colorado Avalanche Information Center) through our annual EpicPromise community grant program, and we are excited that CAIC has kindly offered a live “Know Before You Go” webinar to Vail & Beaver Creek employees, friends & family. This one-hour webinar is not a substitute for formal avalanche and backcountry training programs, but an informational overview of avalanche awareness. It’s also a great refresher if you have already gone through formal avalanche education.
The webinar is Wednesday, February 24, at 5:00 p.m. The webinar participation will be capped at 1,000 participants via this link: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_2phadaN2Rr2QTRc0_uAcaA
This year’s avalanche conditions are historic. Even if you are a seasoned backcountry traveler, you may never have encountered dangerous conditions like the ones we are experiencing this season. Please make sure to always check and heed the CAIC forecast, and have the knowledge, plan, partner and tools to safely recreate in the backcountry.
The Colorado Avalanche Information Center (CAIC) is a program within the Colorado Department of Natural Resources, Executive Director’s Office. The program is a partnership between the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Department of Transportation (CDOT), and the Friends of the CAIC (FoCAIC) a 501c3 group. The mission of the CAIC is to provide avalanche information, education and promote research for the protection of life, property and the enhancement of the state’s economy.
Even if you don’t travel in the backcountry, this will be an interesting and informative hour with the experts at CAIC. We hope you can join!
